8 Nights / 10 Days

Day 1: Canada - Reykjavik (Iceland)
Flight with a good itinerary.

Day 2: Reykjavik
Upon arrival at the airport in Iceland, make your way toward the bus terminal for the transfer to your hotel. Airport shuttles (Flybus) depart every 30 to 40 minutes and seats are always available on board. The rest of the day is free for you to start your exploration of Reykjavik, the capital and largest city in the country.

Ingolfur Arnarson, the first Icelandic settler, built his farm on the peninsula where Reykjavik is today. The city owes its name, "Bay of Smoke", to the steam jets that could be seen rising from hot springs in the region and which probably impressed the first european settlers.

Day 3: Reykjavik - Geysir - Gullfoss - Skogafoss - Vik
After breakfast, you will meet your guide in the lobby of your hotel. Before heading to the Golden Circle, you will get a short city sightseeing of Reykjavik followed by a visit to Hveragerdi, often called "The Flower Village" because of its many flower greenhouses heated by hot water from nearby springs. Then you will discover Gullfoss, the "Golden Waterfall", where thousands of tons of icy water thunder majestically down double ledges into a deep canyon, and the geothermal fields of Geysir with bubbling mud pools and the high-spouting Strokkur, the most active geyser in the area.

Continuation toward the spectacular waterfalls of Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss on Iceland's South Shore. If trail conditions are right, walk behind the ribbon-like Seljalandsfoss falls. A few kilometers away, Skogafoss is a beautifully shaped waterfall, with an interesting geological history, that makes a perfect backdrop for a photo. Finally you will reach Dyrholaey, an impressive rock formation, and the black sand beach of Reynisfjara. Overnight in Vik. (Breakfast-Dinner)

Day 4: Vatnajokull National Park - Jokulsarlon Glacial Lagoon - Hofn
Breakfast at your hotel. Continuation of your journey on the Ring Road. Passing Eldhraun, the largest lava flow recorded on the planet in historical times, you will visit Kirkjubaejarklaustur town, the former site of a 12th-century Catholic convent. Driving through Skeidararsandur, a large expanse of sands, to Skaftafell National Park, you will see one of the most beautiful glacial areas within Vatnajokull National Park. Then, you will discover the stunning Jokulsarlon Glacial Lagoon where icebergs float in a fantastic 180m (591 ft.) deep glacial lagoon. Make sure your camera is loaded and ready! Nearby, you will witness the dramatic beauty of the Diamond Beach, where shrinking icebergs settle on the black sands before drifting out to sea.

Throughout the day you will also enjoy magnificent views of the mighty Vatnajokull Glacier. In the evening, enjoy some free time in Hofn. The village has a nice selection of cafes and restaurants offering the local specialty: langoustines (or Norway lobsters). (Breakfast)

Day 5: Hofn - East Fjords - Egilsstadir
After breakfast at your hotel, you will drive from Hofn through the Almannaskard pass, stopping en route to admire the majestic coastline. Continuation northward to the towering mountains plunging vertically into the sea that form the magnificent East Fjords. Enjoy the amazing views: this is one of Iceland’s oldest regions. You will also pass villages, each with its own special history and charm. Arrival in Egilsstadir town, located near Iceland’s largest forest and a lake said to be home to a legendary (friendly) monster. The area is also getting a name for itself for its excellent locally sourced cuisine. Dinner and overnight in Egilsstadir. (Breakfast-Dinner)

Day 6: Lake Myvatn Area
Breakfast at your hotel. Leaving Egilsstadir, you will drive through the highland desert of Modrudalsoraefi, where NASA trained its astronauts for moon landing in the 1960s. Heading toward the Lake Myvatn area, you will stop at Dettifoss, Europe's largest and most powerful waterfall. Continuation onward to Namaskard pass with its boiling mud pools and vibrant colors before exploring the natural beauty of the Lake Myvatn area, including the pseudo craters at Skutustadir and the Laxa Salmon River. Dinner and overnight in the lake Myvatn area. (Breakfast-Dinner)

Day 7: Lake Myvatn Area - Akureyri - Siglufjordur
Following breakfast at your hotel, you will explore the peculiar lava formations at Dimmuborgir, visit the magnificent Godafoss waterfall and the old turf farm Laufas. Continuation toward Akureyri, the colorful "northern capital of Iceland". You will visit the town with its charming buildings and beautiful views of the Eyjafjordur Fjord. After spending some time in Akureyri, you will drive along the coastal road of Eyjafjordur and the Troll Peninsula, with beautiful views of steep mountains tumbling toward the Arctic Sea. Arrival at destination in Siglufjordur, a village set in a beautiful fjord of the same name. This town has some of the finest timber buildings in the country, beautifully restored to their original glory. Siglufjordur is a very picturesque and easily walkable town for an evening stroll. (Breakfast-Dinner)

Day 8: Skagafjordur - Borgarnes
Breakfast at your hotel. This morning, you will visit Siglufjordur's award-winning Herring-Era Maritime Museum. The museum recreates the atmosphere of the early 20th century when Siglufjordur was transformed into a frontier boom town, thanks to a large migration of herring. Heading along majestic mountains and narrow passes to Skagafjordur, considered to be one of the finest places in Iceland for horse breeding, you will enjoy an introduction to the unique Icelandic horse breed with its special fifth gait, the tolt. Crossing the Holtavorduheidi plateau into Western Iceland, a region rich in tales of Viking explorers and mythical creatures, you will head through the scenic Borgarfjordur area to the town of Borgarnes. Dinner and overnight at the hotel. (Breakfast-Dinner)

Day 9: Borgarnes - Thingvellir - Reykjavik
After breakfast you will drive to Deildartunguhver, the most powerful hot spring in Europe, and Hraunfossar waterfalls, where the brilliantly blue glacial water flows through black lava formations. Continuation to Lake Thingvallavatn, Iceland's largest lake and a part of Thingvellir National Park. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is where the world‘s oldest continuing parliamentary government was founded in the 10th century. It is also the place where the North American and European tectonic plates meet. Overnight in Reykjavik. (Breakfast)

Day 10: Reykjavik - Canada
After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy some free time to wander around the old town of Reykjavik. You are registered for a transfer to the airport.
